HKU holds “The 9th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology”

School of Biological Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (SKLMP) had successfully jointly organized the 9th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology (ICMPE-9) on 10-14 June 2019 at HKU.  Its opening was officiated by the Under Secretary for the Environment of the HKSAR Government, Mr. C.W. Tse; Executive Director of the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), Ms. Aimee Gonzales; Vice President (Research) of HKU, Prof. Andy Hor, and Director of SKLMP, Prof. Paul Lam.  Both our Dean of Science, Prof. Matthew Evans and SBS Deputy Director, Dr. Tim Bonebrake served as VIPs in the opening ceremony.

The ICMPE-9 Conference was very productive with over 270 participants from 18 countries across the five continents, and there were 30 interesting invited talks, 78 oral presentations and 137 poster presentations (i.e., 245 abstracts).  These presentations stimulated many interesting discussions that could help advance our thinking and practices in the field.
