Zygonyx iris

Habitat: larvae found in fast flowing streams e.g. turbulent riffles & waterfalls

General appearance: body large sized, up to about 28mm long; head with flat occipital margin; legs with conspicuous bands; abdomen oval shaped with long lateral spines on abdominal segments VIII - IX and dorsal spines on abdominal segments II - X.

The characteristics of Z. asahinai: dorsal hooks present on tergites S2 - S10 & lateral spines on S8 - S9 resembling Z. iris.
