General appearance: body relatively medium sized, up to 16mm long; head pentagonal with reddish brown markings; legs long, slender with dark markings; wing sheath with distinctive transverse stripes, reaching abdominal segment VI; abdomen ovate shaped with a series of black spots and pale markings on each side; dorsal spines on abdominal segments III - IX and lateral spines on abdominal segements VIII - IX
