Habitat: larvae found in pools and marshes

General appearance: body medium large sized, up to about 20mm long, covered with hairs; head rectangular with bean-like eyes, labium mask-shaped with 6 palpal setae (but I expected 7 setae); wing pads extending to abdominal segment VI; abdomen droplet-shaped with dorsal spines on abdominal segments IV - VIII and lateral spines on abdominal segments VIII - IX
