Habitat: larvae associated with coarse sands and gravels in fast flowing streams

General appearance: body large sized, up to about 26mm long, covered by dense setae; bat-like antennae with knob-like tubercules on anterio-lateral edge (similar to Lamelliogomphys hainanensis); dark triangular markings on femur; wingpads divergent; abdomen with pair of dark spots on middle of dorsum; dorsal spines on abdominal segments II - IX (cf. rudimentary in Lamelliogomphus hainanensis) and lateral spines on segments VI - IX
