Habitat: larvae associated with coarse sands and muddy gravels in streams

General appearance: body large sized, probably up to 30mm long, covered by hairs; plate-like antennae without knob-like tubercules on anterio-lateral edge (cf. present in Lamelliogomphus hongkongensis); elongated abdomen with unique cloud-like pattern on each side of midline; dorsal spines on abdominal segments II - VII (weakly seen in early instar stages) and lateral spines on segments VII - IX
