Habitat: larvae buried into coarse sands and gravels under bed of streams

General appearance: body large sized, up to about 33mm long, fully covered by dense hairs; rod-like antennae curved upwardly; labial palpal lobe with 10 - 11 teeth on strongly curved inner margin; abdomen elongated and segment IX distinct long tapering to the end; markings and folds present on each abdominal terga; dorsal spines tiny, acute on abdominal segments VII - IX and lateral spines on segments VI - IX
