Closing Remarks – Dr. Janet Chan
Chair, Organizing Committee, Green Buildings and Energy Management Conference
Programme Coordinator, Master of Science in Environmental Management

On behalf of the Organizers of this Conference, it is indeed my great pleasure to make a few closing remarks and express gratitude to all those who made this event a reality.

First, I would like to sincerely thanks the four Honorable speakers – Ir Anfield CHIU, Ir Cary CHAN, Prof. John NG, and Dr. Benny CHOW – for giving us very insightful sharing in this lovely morning.

A conference becomes a success only if participants come. Participants are the lifeblood of this Conference. Thus, I do express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. And, without the promotion by the three supporters – HKIE – MMNC Division, HKIE – Environmental Division, as well as JCIEA, there would not be a full house today.

Next, I would like to give my appreciation to all the Organizing Committee members and helpers, especially Teresa and Michelle. Their inputs are invaluable to make this event a reality.

Lastly, I would like to convey my greatest sincere thanks to Ir Martin Wan who initiated this Series of Conference. Our first Conference on Green Buildings and Energy Management was held 5 years ago and today we have the second one. Ir Wan is the key person of these two Conferences, lining up all the speakers and guests. Without him, the Conference cannot become true.

Green Buildings and Energy Management is a multidisciplinary issue, involving not only engineering and architectural aspects, but also sustainability and environmental concerns on our environment. It is definitely a hot subject in Environmental Management. Five years ago and today we have a Conference on it. So, what’s next? I am very delighted to announce that our Master of Science in Environmental Management programme will launch a new course next year on Green Buildings and Energy Management. We hope to gather the experts of the field and provide practical knowledge to our students to become more all-rounded environmental professionals.

Thank you all for joining the Conference today. I wish you all an enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing you in the near future.
