General appearance
Body color yellowish brown with some dark markings; size large up to 18mm long (excluding antennae & cerci)
Cerci longer than body length by 1.5 times; medium filament greatly reduced to give 2-tailed impression

Head flattened, sub-triangular shape with anterior end wider; antennae short and slender

Gills I - VII: gill I enlarged to form sucking disc; fibrilliform well-developed on gills I - VI, but absent on gill VII
Abdomen terga with distinct markings e.g. terga III - IV & VII - IX with longitudinal lines medially (shown clearly in late larval stage)
Posterior margin of terga I - IX with a pair of tubercules submedially

Distribution:
In Hong Kong, specimens are recorded from Shing Mun, Tai Po Kau Forest Stream, Ng Tung Chai, Lam Tsuen River and Pui O (Lantau Island).

Habitat: Larvae are found in fast flowing current in streams.
