Freshwater Macroinvertebrates in Hong Kong

General appearance
Body size small medium up to about 5mm long (excluding antennae & cerci)
Body color yellow brown; thoracic nota with some brown markings
Body shape dorso-ventral flattened

Hindwing pads present, but reduced
Femora with a row of long pectinate setae dorsally
Fore tibia with a row of setae, but two rows on mid & hind tibiae (cf. one row in Baetiella trispinata)
Tarsi with a single long subapical seta ventrally, tarsal claw with one row of 8 - 9 denticles

Gills I - VII single, tracheated (shown clearly in mature larvae)
Small paired dark brown spots on terga II - IX
Central filament is reduced to about 10 segments giving a two-tailed impression; cerci length short in 0.6 times of body length

Distribution:
In Hong Kong, specimens are recorded from Pui O, Sam Tsuen, Shek Mun Kap and Wang Lung Hang Stream (Lantau Island), Tai Po Kau Forest Stream, Lam Tsuen River, Shing Mun, Chuen Lung, Tan Shan River, Ho Chung, Tai Mong Tsai, Ko Tong Ha Yeung and Sha Kok Mei Nam Wai (Sai Kung).
